In 1998 Tran Luong and Nguyen Manh Duc turned Nhasan studio into an experimental art space. Nhasan studio was among the first alternative and non profit spaces for contemporary art not only in Hanoi, but also the whole country. It opens for local and international artists to present new kinds of media such as video, performance, sound, music, installation… Nhasan brings the chance for Vietnamese experimental artists to create and show their works, which is very meaningful in developing their artistic practices and share their experiences and invigorate an artist community that is hungry for change and at times it is to risky for contemporary art. It also brings chances to Vietnamese artists to collaborate with other international artists in order to create culture exchange, network, develop and learn more from the outside over the last 12 years. The first generation of Vietnamese avant-garde artists since early 90’s such as Truong Tan, Tran Luong, Nguyen Van Cuong, Nguyen Minh Thanh, Nguyen Quang Huy, Ea Sola, Kim Ngoc… has created the prestigious beginning.
